Former Planned Parenthood Director Coming to Stark County!
Only months ago, Abby Johnson was working for Planned Parenthood as a Director in Bryan, Texas.
Planned Parenthood had been a part of Abby Johnson's life for the past eight years; that is until last October 2009, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure.
"I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," said Jonhson.
She handed in her resignation October 6. Johnson worked as the Bryan Planned Parenthood Director in Texas for two years.
Abby will be appearing for her very first and only appearance in Ohio, courtesy of Right to Life of Stark County, at the Massillon K of C Hall on Friday, May 14, 2010 for a fundraising dinner. Doors open at 6:15pm, program starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are available as follows:

Welcome to
RTL of Stark County
This web site is version two for us! We hope you take a look around. Most everything we do will show up here on our web portal as we continue to develop the maximum opportunities to connect with you, our constituent public, and keep you informed. For many years Right to Life chapters depended on a mailing list to communicate to the community at large. However, today, you see us utilizing technologies, such as the Internet and e-mail lists to activate volunteers in the greater Stark County area. But this site is interactive. You have an opportunity to sign up for events, volunteer, view blogs, view local statistical content, participate in our forum area, read legislative news in Ohio and Washington, and comment on this site. News feeds on the Advocacy page to the left and Quick News, such as Habitat for Humanity considering building a Planned Parenthood facility. All right here on this site!
This site creates so many new opportunities for you to get to know us and join with us, entering into the advocacy role to protect life from conception to the end of natural life. You will also discover that we partner with other community groups to bring events and speakers that will interest you. If you surf this site, you will see we are active and have many community events. Please look around and see what we are doing. Join us!
Here's what we do...

Abby Johnson, Former Planned Parenthood Director
ABBY JOHNSON
Former Planned Parenthood Director
Abby Johnson quit her job. That simple act has become a national news story because Johnson, 29,

was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who said she experienced a "change of heart" while participating in an abortion procedure. Johnson has now joined a group called Coalition for Life, which prays outside the clinic where she worked.
Interview with Mike Huckabee:
"I had never seen an abortion happen on an ultrasound," she said. "My job during the procedure was to hold the probe on the woman's abdomen. I could see the whole profile of the baby 13 weeks head to foot. I could see the whole side profile. I could see the probe. I could see the baby try to move away from the probe."
Johnson worked at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan, Texas, for nine years, first as a volunteer and then as the director. Her duties included running the family planning and abortion programs. The clinic performed abortions two days a month. Although she had seen ultrasounds before, including during her own pregnancy, Johnson said she had never seen an ultrasound image during an abortion. She is unclear why, as the director of the clinic, she was asked to be in the procedure room on that day, because it was not a normal part of her duties. Still, Johnson said, the experience changed her forever. She knew it was time to leave after she watched the baby "crumple" as it was vacuumed out of a patient's uterus.
"I just thought, 'What am I doing?'" she said. "And then I thought, 'Never again.'I looked out the window and saw a couple of women praying and I thought, 'That's where I need to go.â

Area Right to Lifers,
Many recent situations have led me to believe our group is headed in the right direction. For one thing, you have an instant resource in this web site. Have you looked around? There are many, many resources at your fingertips. Local abortion statistics, local events, a list of people responsible for the organization, instances of advocacy, recent legislative initiatives in both Ohio and Washington, and a vast array of pro-life articles, book reviews and opportunities coming up. We didn't have this before, and what's more, it gives us a professional look.
If you are a pro-lifer, you will have the opportunity to prove it by getting involved. Even at a minimum, look around and let us know how this site works for you by filling out the survey (link at the top of the home page in yellow).
