Volunteer Opportunities

Note: Organizing and prioritizing volunteer opportunities may change at different points of time, depending on where the largest needs are.

Below is a brief explanation of how volunteering can take place. If you want to sign up to volunteer, you can conveniently do it right here on our website at our Volunteering page.

SQL / ASP.NET Programming

Because of our new web technology, we have an immediate need of the services of someone experienced in MS SQL on an ASP.NET Platform. Please e-mail the Executive Director or call him at (330) 417-9660. Ask for Mark.

Event Planning

Various activities have been staples of our Right to Life Chapter over the years. However, we need volunteers to ambitiously cultivate the Culture of Life with events that will draw our supporters. Currently, we are preparing for the Bobby Schindler speaking event and we need you to help us get the word out! E-mail the Executive Director or come to a meeting and we'll let you know how. Also, Canton is home to the Football Hall of Fame Festival and our area has many other attractions. We can take advantage of preparing a line-up of events that will increase our membership and build our reputation for being active in the community.

Board Members

Some on our board who have been serving for many years recognize and desire the need for younger volunteers and a fresh infusion. Fresh thinking can help any organization to lead in new directions that will cause more diverse volunteers to join with us. Our board desires to encourage a broader set of opportunities for those that would bring the fascination of a synergistic effort to collaborate inside our community of Stark County. If you would like to be considered for a board position, e-mail the Executive Director.

Publicity

Right to Life of Stark County takes a number of opportunities to appear in public. Annually, we have a booth at the Stark County Fair to pass out materials and show the Stark County community we are active and take every occasion to advocate for life. We also have booths at other events. Life Chain has been the annual silent demonstration to keep the issue of protecting the unborn before the public eye. Newspaper signature ads and billboards also assist us in reminding our community about the opportunity for people to make better choices for themselves. We need volunteers to make these things happen. Sometimes seeing a project, that you have worked on, come before the public is a gratifying experience. If you want to put your skills to work, e-mail the Executive Director.

Fundraising Research

Right to Life of Stark County will have a donor base that will give us the ability to do many things. However, it takes time to build relationships with those who have resources to bring their charities and abilities to our table. We fully intend to show the return on donations by using funds wisely and tangibly showing a benefit to our community. But this requires research, which requires time. We will strategize the best approaches and fully employ our efforts to bring our operations into an optimum, thus maximizing our base.

Office Volunteers

Any well organized office will need various people to bring their best effort to file, take calls, communicate within the community, work with memberships in a databasing environment, collaborate information, print out reports, conference with staff, or assist in general ways. An office is only as good as those who give their time to follow through on details. Most people will tell, by walking into an office, how the organization functions. Little things can make the difference on how well community members view what we do and how we do it.

Telephone Calling

The Stark County chapter has a process that will allow our volunteers to be ready to complete tasks that are appropriately broken down into reasonable areas. We will then provide training to our volunteers to give them effective procedures to follow.
