[Executive Branch] Is Planned Parenthood a Wise Investment? - 3/28/2008
Please sign this petition to President Bush, which FRC will deliver, asking him to approve new Title X regulations that ensure no federal money goes to groups like Planned Parenthood.
[Family Research Council] Would you invest in a company whose affiliates are complicit in sexual crimes against children?
Would you take your hard-earned money and pile it into a company whose fundraisers "get excited" when someone wishes to target African-American babies for extinction?
How secure would you feel if you found out this company was being charged by one of its own former executives with illegal accounting, billing and donation practices and with bilking the government?
Or that this company was taking your money and putting $10 million towards Congressional candidates who support eliminating abstinence funding, distributing needles to drug addicts, suggesting pornography for children to view and keeping parents uninformed in important medical decisions involving their own children?
Well guess what? That company is Planned Parenthood and each year you give them $300 million of your tax dollars, mainly through the federal Medicaid and Title X programs.
A majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion - however, still Planned Parenthood receives more than $300 million in taxpayer funding each year for "family planning" projects that help bolster their abortion trade. Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kans.) put it best when he said, "While we continue to have a rigorous debate in this country about abortion, we should be able to come to some fundamental agreements. We should not use tax dollars to subsidize abortion clinics - particularly when there are serious concerns regarding their compliance with state law and medical standards."

[U.S. Senate] Senate to vote on federal funding of abortion - 10/29/2007
As early as this week, the U.S. Senate will cast an important vote on federal funding of abortion. Take a few minutes to voice your opinion!
WASHINGTON (October 29, 2007) [www.nrlc.org] -- As early as this week, the U.S. Senate will cast an important vote on federal funding of abortion.
The Senate is expected to take up S. 1200, a bill to make extensive changes to the laws governing federal health programs for American Indians, which are administered by the Indian Health Service.
Some years ago, federal Indian Health Service (IHS) funds were used to provide abortion on demand. That is not occurring at the present, but it is necessary to amend the permanent law to ensure that it does not occur again in the future. That goal would be achieved by an amendment that pro-life Senator David Vitter (R-La.) intends to offer when the Senate takes up S. 1200.
The Vitter Amendment is similar to the Hyde Amendment, but would permanently apply to the IHS. If enacted, it would alter the basic IHS law to permanently prohibit federal funding of abortion (except to save the life of the mother, rape, or incest) in all federal Indian health programs.
For a number of senators, this will be the first time that they vote on the issue of direct federal funding of abortion. That is because the Senate has not conducted a roll call vote squarely on an amendment to prohibit direct funding of abortion procedures since 1999. (However, the Senate has voted repeatedly on related issues, such as funding for organizations that promote abortion and the use of federal military facilities for self-funded abortions.) All U.S. Senators need to hear immediately from constituents who are opposed to federal funding of abortion.
PLEASE CALL NOW!
The surest, fastest, and most helpful way to communicate with senators on this matter is to use the NRLC "Call Alert" tool on the NRLC website's Legislative Action Center, here.
This handy tool provides you with the phone numbers of your two U.S. senators, and short talking points that will help you deliver the right message. Also, the tool gives you an easy way to send NRLC an e-mail to report on what your senators' staffpersons said, if you choose to do so (this helps NRLC's lobbying efforts).
YOU CAN SEND E-MAILS TOO, BUT...
If you prefer to send an e-mail to your senators rather than call, NRLC has provided a suggested message that you can send with a few mouse clicks, here. However, be aware that congressional offices are receiving huge volumes of e-mail messages on many issues, and in many offices such messages may not be reviewed and counted for a considerable period of time.

[U.S. Senate] Stop Tax Funding for Planned Parenthood - 8/21/2007
Don't miss a great opportunity to let your congressmen know that you do not want any taxpayer money going to Planned Parenthood
The United States Congress is currently on its summer break. It will return the first week of September. During this time, most members of congress spend time in their home districts and are anxious to hear from constituents on what concerns them. This is a great opportunity for you to let them know that you do not want any taxpayer money going to Planned Parenthood.
This is especially important, as the new makeup of Congress that took office in January this year is favorable to Planned Parenthood. As a result, Planned Parenthood lists many major victories over the last few months, including:
-
$28 million increase for Title X. This is the third-largest increase in the program's history and the first increase in six years. This increase will result in an estimated $7 million more dollars going to Planned Parenthood.
-
Creation of Teen Pregnancy Prevention grants -- a new $10 million funding stream to support "factually and medically accurate" approaches to prevent teen pregnancy. These programs result in an increase in Planned Parenthood's customer base.
-
$200 million increase for Community Health Centers, which means more customers in Planned Parenthood facilities.
Although Planned Parenthood is gaining many victories, it is still possible to put on the brakes. The measures above passed the House of Representatives, but most have not passed the Senate. Your senators need to hear from you in the next few weeks.
Tell your senators that you do not want any money going to Planned Parenthood. You can mention the above items as examples of funding you do not want Planned Parenthood to get. With constant pressure, we can stop the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

[U.S. House & Senate] Title V Extension - 8/13/2007
Serious changes to the guidelines were made effectively changing Title V into another opportunity to fund comprehensive sex education.
[Family Research Council] Before adjourning for the August recess, the House voted to extend Title V for an additional two years as a part of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) bill. However, serious changes to the guidelines were made effectively changing Title V into another opportunity to fund comprehensive sex education. Because the Senate SCHIP bill did not contain abstinence education funding, the House/Senate Conference committee will need to agree upon common language in their respective bills. Negotiations will be on-going during the August recess with final decisions made in early September.
Congress is enjoying its August recess, which provides the perfect opportunity for you to visit your Member of Congress while he or she is home in the district. Take this time to tell your Member of Congress to fully reauthorize and preserve Title V in its current form.
Tell your Member of Congress you want him/her to support a full reauthorization of Title V as well as continued funding for CBAE without any changes in true abstinence education funding guidelines.

[ U.S. House] Support the Pence Amendment - 7/30/2007
Call Your Representative and Tell Them to Support the Pence Amendment
[Family Research Council] According to their own 2005-2006 Annual Report, Planned Parenthood received over a third of their income--$300 million--from government funding. Although the government monies are prohibited by law from being used for abortions, that funding still helps Planned Parenthood in its overall operations.
Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) is offering an offering an amendment to the Labor-Health and Human Services Appropriations bill that would prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to fund Planned Parenthood or its affiliates. Your support on this crucial amendment is needed.
Call your Representative TODAY and tell them to stop the flow of taxpayer money that is being funneled to the nation's largest abortion chain. Click the link directly below to get the phone number for your legislator. (Please be patient, page may load slowly.)

[U.S. House & Senate] The Freedom of Choice Act - 7/3/2007
Help stop the bill that would prohibit states from restricting abortion
The Freedom Of Choice Act has been reintroduced in both the Senate (S.1173) and the House of Representatives (H.R.1964). If passed, this bill would overturn every meaningful restriction on abortion in this country. It would prohibit states from restricting abortion. It would invalidate many laws that have been upheld under Roe (i.e. parental notification, parental consent laws.) Please contact you Senator and your Representative to vote against passage of the FOCA.
