Life Chain of Stark County

The purpose of Life Chain is to provide a vibrant, visual sign of the vast opposition to the violent destruction of the innocent, human life in the womb by legal protection.

In Canton each year, for example, almost 7,000 little girls and boys are killed legally, almost as many as are permitted to be born.
The Body of Christ has never stood silently in the face of such wanton destruction of God’s children, yet many Christians have. We stand as witnesses to God’s love and truth in regard to America’s 30 year war on the Unborn.

Now is the time to stand for the truth - that God is the Author of all human life—and that no one ever has the authority to usurp God’s rights over it—and that He forgives the sin of abortion through Jesus’ saving death and resurrection -

History of Life Chain

LifeChain was begun in California in 1987 by Please Let Me Live, a pro-life group. It has since spread to the entire U.S., with hundreds of communities now involved. Some of the largest have been in St. Louis (18,000), and Cincinnati (20,000). Sunday, October 5, 2008 will be the next LifeChain Sunday. Mark it on your calendars and make arrangements for you and others in your church to participate.

Dear Friend and Fellow Coordinator:

Greetings to you, as you labor daily to meet life’s challenges and follow Christ. If your life is similar to mine, 2008 is providing many challenges, yet we press on, committed to a strong National Life Chain Sunday across America and Canada on October 5. (You will be blessed to know that in early May 50 Chains were built across England.)

Other blessings we share include the good fruit of 40 Days for Life, which commanded our attention in 2007 and gave prolife a sturdy infusion of zeal to pray and witness at America’s death centers. We also take heart from legislative initiatives underway, as in Colorado, where abortion was first legalized (1966) and where establishing legal personhood for the unborn is now the vital issue. Beyond that, new pro-life organizations and websites are forming, pro-life legal firms are expanding, youth in growing numbers are defending Life, and leadership conferences are earnestly assessing routes to victory. But the dark powers sustaining abortion remain strong, with new killing centers opening and political uncertainty looming. In America, our next president may appoint two or more Supreme Court justices, and abortion advocates may control all three branches of our government.

In that event, our hope will of necessity rest in Christ. Might He know that we the church will never discover, value, and defend the unborn’s humanity until our backs are against the wall? After four decades of child mutilation, the pulpits remain substantially inactive. When will the church exchange blame of others for repentance? When will the church discover the “victims” of abortion and not the “abortion issue” only?

While praying for those breakthroughs, let us as best we can and in the humble spirit of Daniel persuade our local clergy to join with us in accepting accountability for our nation’s bloodguilt—which is “kin liability” for child killing in our local town and nation. Christ told us who our brother and neighbor are, and He described our duty to them. To assume our duty, our generation must rediscover two transcendent virtues: mercy and justice.

To build attendance in October, please announce your 2008 Life Chain with a Pastoral Letter (see p. 32 of the Life Chain Manual at www.NationalLifeChain.org or at www.LifeChain.net). Earlier this year, I sent you an improved Pastoral Letter, along with another email on how to strengthen your Chain by “ministering to pastors.” If you lack these resourses, kindly let me know. Meanthile, I thank you sincerely for pressing on, and please confirm your Life Chain promptly by return email.

Truly grateful for your prayers and your service to Life Chain,

Royce (Dunn), Director of Life Chain
